The role

We’re looking for a senior media leader with strong commercial instinct to help grow Golley Slater Media’s commercial client base in a way that’s sustainable, credible and delivery-ready. This is not a traditional “sales-only” role. It’s a commercial enablement and new business leadership role that sits right at the intersection of:

  • shaping and embedding our media proposition,

  • building and progressing a high-quality pipeline,

  • leading pitches and conversions, and

  • making sure we’re ready to onboard and deliver brilliant work.

You’ll work closely with our Media Director and Media SLT to embed our Media proposition in market, build a strong new business pipeline, strengthen readiness, and representing our Media offer in strategic conversations with intermediaries and partners.

What you’ll be responsible for
Commercial proposition & targeting

  • Bringing our commercial media proposition to life in the market – making sure it’s clear, compelling.

  • Helping define priority sectors and opportunity areas, based on best fit, margin potential, capacity and capability.

  • Keeping the proposition sharp by learning from live pitch feedback, wins/losses and competitor insight.

  • Owning and evolving the core pitch tool kit: credentials, case studies, proposition content and pitch decks.

 

Pipeline ownership (end-to-end)

  • Owning the full new business lifecycle: overseeing prospecting and qualification → pitching → conversion → handover.

  • Building and maintaining a pipeline of high-quality commercial opportunities, tracked through CRM and business planning.

  • Qualifying opportunities rigorously (fit, viability, competitive context, readiness) and focusing energy where we can win well.

 

Pitch leadership & senior media credibility

  • Leading media-only pitches and proposals, and acting as the senior media lead in integrated pitches.

  • Creating compelling, insight-led media strategies that clearly set out:

    – the role of media in solving the client’s business challenge

    – audience insight and channel rationale

    – measurement, effectiveness and success metrics

    – commercial value for the client and Golley Slater

  • Presenting with confidence to senior stakeholders

 

Organisational development & onboarding

  • Developing capability and innovation to support growth.

  • Building and embedding a robust onboarding blueprint so new commercial wins land smoothly: handover protocols, measures of success, quality controls and continuous improvement.

 

Market presence & relationship building

  • Building trusted relationships with intermediaries, partners and senior client decision-makers.

  • Showing up externally: industry events, networking and thought leadership — raising our profile in the marketplace.

  • Identifying partnership opportunities that strengthen our proposition or market access.

What we’re looking for

Essential

  • Deep expertise in media strategy, planning and investment across channels (digital, AV, social, search, programmatic, OOH, audio and emerging platforms).

  • Strong understanding of media effectiveness and measurement (e.g. attribution approaches, ROI thinking, MMM/econometrics familiarity).

  • Proven experience leading new business: pipeline creation, qualification, pitch leadership and conversion – ideally at £1m+ pipeline scale.

  • Senior stakeholder credibility and confidence – you can engage CMOs/Marketing Directors as a peer and trusted advisor.

  • Strong commercial judgement: you know when to push, when to challenge, and when to walk away.

  • A collaborative style and the ability to work across disciplines to win and onboard work well.

Desirable

  • Experience working with intermediaries, procurement frameworks or pitch consultants.

  • Sector experience (e.g. retail, FMCG, financial services, travel, automotive).

  • Familiarity with analytics/effectiveness tools and platforms.

  • Experience contributing to thought leadership, effectiveness papers or award entries (e.g. IPA Effectiveness).
