Our regular round-up of what’s been going on in the Golley Slater Cardiff office over the last seven days.
The Golley Gang continues to grow
This week we welcomed designer and self-styled adventurer Siôn Meical (pictured above) to our team. Siôn has worked for creative agencies both in London and Cardiff and has a background in visual identity and brand development. He has worked on visual communications for international brands, local start-ups and everything in-between and we’re chuffed to have him join the team as our new Middleweight Graphic Designer.
We hosted a CIPR Social Short on appealing to younger audiences
After battling through the packed city-centre as the Christmas lights were turned on, Joseph Bell arrived at our offices ready to share his top tips for appealing to younger audiences. Joseph, who now works as a freelancer, has developed and produced a range of innovative and award-winning projects. Many of these were during his 7 years at the BBC, where he produced Digital Guerrillas – an in-house ‘agency’ tasked with editorial innovation for young audiences across BBC Taster and BBC Three. Follow Joseph on Twitter for more of his pearls of wisdom!

Mintel showed us the tools of their trade
Regular readers of the blog will know that last week, a few of our team traveled up to London to visit our preferred Market Research providers, Mintel – this week it was our turn to host. Account Director Jordan McCollin and his colleague Anisha Kainth popped down to Cardiff to deliver some extra training on how best to use the Mintel platform to access consumer insights that will help us to deliver more effective campaigns.
We held our first ‘inspiration session’
In any busy office in a fast-paced industry, it can sometimes be hard to get the chance to just sit and think; this is why we’ve decided to hold our new ‘ inspiration sessions’ with the whole team once a month. This is a couple of hours that we all spend together sharing some of the impressive campaigns we’ve seen ‘in the wild’ recently; the new technologies we’ve heard about or experimented with; and also brainstorm for any projects that our team might currently be working on. One of our favourite campaigns discussed this month was the ‘Fearless Girl of Wall Street’, which you can read more about here.
Our new talent caught the attention of the business pages
From new members of staff to internal promotions, there have been lots of exciting changes and additions to the Golley Slater Cardiff team over the last few months, something that the Western Mail picked up on this week. Also this week our former-apprentice now turned Media Executive Hannah Swain (pictured below, centre) passed on her experience in an interview with training provider, Skill Cymru – watch it in full here.
