To celebrate Apprenticeships Week 2023, we would love you to get to know some of our recent apprentices. First up, Arwen Jones, Creative Communications Apprentice!

Before her apprenticeship, Arwen had just finished her A-levels in Media Studies, Drama and First Language Welsh, as well as working part-time as a waitress. She had been interested in doing an apprenticeship for a while so started researching what apprenticeships were available. Soon enough, she found this opportunity with us through the Welsh Governments’ Apprenticeship search engine.

Let’s find out a bit more about Arwen and her time with us…

What has your apprenticeship been like, what have you learnt?

A lot of my day-to-day tasks include doing outreach to stakeholders, and writing lots of social content and creative writing for blogs.

I’ve had the chance to learn and develop a number of skills, including communication, time management, and my Welsh language skills. As a first language Welsh Speaker, the opportunity to develop and use my Welsh language on a daily basis has been very influential and important and is a well-valued element of my apprenticeship with Golley Slater.

Your favourite part about Golley Slater?

The work I do at Golley Slater is genuinely interesting and tends to keep me on my toes. The people and culture are incredibly unique, and everyone here has made my time so enjoyable. They truly go above and beyond to help me and teach me new things!”

“It’s amazing how supportive and positive Golley Slater are and I’m eager to see how much I can learn through this apprenticeship to help me pursue a career in PR!”
